Zain announces contract phones

Finally it feels like we have arrived at that stage in our cellular phone history when consumers get to pay for things on credit. What am I talking about?
Zain Ghana has advertised in today’s Daily Graphic three categories of contract plans that come with
- A FREE Phone
- 2000 mins of voice calls
- 15 mins of video calls
- 200 SMS
- 10 MB data
All three (3) tiers of contract come with the same amount of voice and video call minutes, SMS and internet package and therefore it seems only the model of phones determine the monthly amount payable. The contracts are valid for 24 months, subject to additional terms and conditions (always read the fine print).
The monthly payments are: GHC 80, GHC 60 and GHC 40 per month depending on which tier you choose. The phone models available were not named explicitly in the ad but I made out some of the models.
(Note: The models in the ad may not be the models available with the package)
The GHC 80 per month tier seems to have a Nokia smartphone and a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the GHC 60 per month has a BlackBerry Pearl Flip and a Nokia E 71 and the GHC 40 tier has what I think is a Nokia XpressMusic phone ( I think the 5630) and a samsung phone, I can’t make out.
I believe this type of contract plans is very progressive and will be how things work in the future. Now waiting eagerly for the other telcos to respond.
Ps. Will find out what the fine print entails and do a post on it.

Well Yaw seeing as how the 40 Cedis phones don't really excite me (and probably you) a 20 cedis package will probably have a Nokia 3310 as the phone. So don't hold your breath for that package.
